About

My name is Carly, I have struggled with anxiety now for the best part of 25 years.

My respite is the escape and freedom of the great outdoors. When I am outside and active there is no anxiety, I am relaxed and happy. I can breathe deeply and free from the worries that enclose my inside world.  What should be the most exhausting part of my day is actually the most relaxing and energizing.

I want to use this blog to research, discover and understand the reasons why ‘a bit of fresh air’ makes myself/people feel so much better. It’s not a cure, at least not for me, but it is an important respite.

I am planning to research, find books and websites that inspire, find places where people can get help and support.  I hope to find sports and clubs where people are welcome and can take up a new hobby. It will start as a place where I can write down my thoughts and learn a few new things, but I hope to turn it into a place of inspiration. I would be delighted if I can create something that provides a little support and encouragement and maybe even bring people together.

Anybody who finds this blog and reads is welcome whether they are in the UK or anywhere else in the world, have lived with anxiety, depression or another debilitating mental health condition or is just feeling a bit down after a difficult year.  I would love to inspire people find their escape in our great outdoors.

I do fully understand and appreciate the current pandemic and restrictions placed on some areas at the moment but I regard this blog as very much a long term project and I live in hope that our lives will be back to some kind of normality soon so I will carry on as planned for the time being. At the point of writing we are slowly coming out of lockdown in stages, we have just been able to start group activities with more opening up in a few weeks.
